Activités professionnelles : Nov 2013 - up to date Zoological Director Pairi Daiza SA, Belgium I run the zoological department (50 staff) in this ever expanding zoo. We hold over 5000 animals of more than 500 species.

Expérience(s) professionelle(s) : Oct 2011- Oct 2013 Director Al Wabra Wildlife Preservation I was in charge of the daily running of the animal collection and its staff (40). The collection holds the largest number of Spix's macaw in captivity in the world. There are several overseas conservation projects. I was also coordinating in-situ conservation projects in Ethiopia and Brazil. 2006 - 2011 Veterinary Officer - Zoological Society London, ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, UK I was the sole clinician at this zoo. I also did occasional days and on-duty calls at London zoo. My main research areas were elephant and pygmy hippopotamus medicine and anaesthesia in all species of zoo mammals. I actively taught post and under graduate students. I was also in charge of the daily management of the hospital and two veterinary nurses and was part of the senior animal management committee at Whipsnade Zoo. I did follow several management courses and the latest one was an introductory certificate in management at the chartered management institute. 2004 - 2006 Head of Veterinary Department : Management of Nature Conservation, Abu Dhabi, UAE This private breeding centre holds around 60,000 mammals including caprids, ovids, antelopes and gazelles and around 10,000 birds. As the head of the veterinary department I managed a team of 12. I was responsible for the hospital budget and the general health of the animal collection. 2004 - 2006 Veterinarian : Al Bustan Zoological Centre, Sharsja, UAE This private zoo holds an impressive collection of wild animals. It is specialised in wild cats and breeding of endangered birds. I was the sole visiting veterinarian. 2003 - 2004 Duchy Veterinary Hospital, Newquay UK. I was senior veterinarian in this hospital. First and second-line veterinary work from all domestic animal species was performed here and it was the only referral hospital for exotics in South-West England. The hospital was also responsible for cetacean strandings in Cornwall. I was the clinical vet of the following places: - Newquay Zoo, Newquay, UK - Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay, UK - Cornish Bird of Prey Centre, Wadebridge, UK 2002-2003 Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, Belgium. Department of surgery and anaesthesiology. I was in charge of clinical anaesthesia of large animals. Furthermore, I did ruminant surgeries.
